Making Digestives, Aperitifs and Bitters

Proper digestion is important for nutrient absorption.  Much of our food is overly sweet or salty and our adult palates reject healthy bitter foods.  We have the bloated stomachs and sluggish digestive systems to prove it.  The good news is that bitters are coming back in the form of artisanal aperitifs and digestives.  A little foraging for some backyard roots and leaves and you can easily make your own unique blends. 

Host and Course Leader Carolyn Langdon is the Director of Wild Edibles Haliburton. She leads public forages and private consultations.  She’s been profiled by CBC Radio and The Ottawa Citizen and was an adviser to Naked and Afraid, a Discovery Channel series in which participants survived a three-week ordeal.
