This half day workshop will introduce you to the art and science of glassblowing. After a tour and demonstration, you’ll put your hand to an ancient art that hasn’t changed in over 3000 years (except for the disco ball). This age-old process is as fascinating as the pieces you’ll create.
Imagine gathering layers of glowing orange molten glass from the mouth of a furnace hot enough to melt sand. Experience the magic of working with traditional tools, pinching and twirling an amorphous ball of lava as you encourage it to find its shape.
In this art adventure you’ll learn the basics and create three (or more) blown glass treasures. You’ll marvel at the way molten glass moves and experience the wonder of breathing into the blowpipe to bring your glass ball to life.
Terry Craig and Jennifer Wanless Craig, the designers, makers and creators behind Artech Studios, will be your guides. They’re respected glassblowers who exhibit and sell to clients across North America. Their hip glassware has even been selected to be included in celebrity swag bags for the Emmys.
A snack and beverage will be provided. During the workshop you’ll get a 10% discount in the studio gallery!
Perfect for beginners and people of all ages and abilities! Also, check out our other glass blowing experiences.
