Here’s your chance to find out why people fall in love with fly fishing. Newcomers to the “quiet sport” will be taught how to cast, identify different types of flies and hook, play and handle fish on the fly rod – all while enjoying time on a serene Haliburton Lake.
Things to note: Two people maximum, corporate groups can be arranged. Participants must have a valid fishing licence. Polarized glasses and a hat is also advised.
About the Instructor: Steve Galea is an award-winning outdoors writer and Assistant Editor for Ontario Out of Doors magazine – where he has been a columnist, news editor and feature writer for more than 20 years. He is also a humour columnist for several community newspapers. He is an all-round outdoorsman whose love and fascination for fly fishing started some 40 years ago after he bought an old fiberglass fly rod and reel at a neighbourhood garage sale. Since then he has spent many days on the water chasing fish and introduced hundreds of people to the sport along the way.
